Who we are

A national network built by teachers, for the students they left behind.

The American Retired Teachers Foundation (EIN 74-2958842) is a national network of retired educators and a 501(c)(3) organization that turns a career's worth of classroom expertise into direct student support.

Our story

Every year, tens of thousands of American teachers retire with decades of classroom craft — and no structured way to keep using it. At the same time, millions of K–12 students sit below grade level without access to the one intervention that reliably works: sustained attention from an experienced educator.

ARTF exists to connect those two facts. We recruit and certify retired educators, place them with students who are behind, and administer scholarship funds that make school choice real for families who can't self-finance it.

Retired teachers are the asset in this equation, not the beneficiaries. Our job is to remove the friction — certification, placement, scheduling, technology — between their expertise and a student who needs it.
